We may feel somewhat stuck on a mental plane today with Mercury aligning with the South Node of the Moon. The tendency is to overthink, overexplain, or overanalyze, which can be a form of procrastination or emotional avoidance. Mercury also forms a semi-square to Venus, and we may be in two minds about a matter–decisions can be hard to come by under these influences. It’s not easy to concentrate or connect with our hearts, and we can be pretty sensitive to what we feel people mean in their communications. There can be minor but irritating disconnects as we either rationalize our feelings or emotionalize our observations. We are likely to be feeling sociable and a little indulgent, perhaps lacking concentration when it comes to work or run-of-the-mill tasks. However, the Moon spends the day in dramatic, determined Leo, helping us find ways to enjoy ourselves.
NOVEMBER 26
The Moon continues its transit of Leo until 9:12 PM EST, opposing Jupiter around midday, and it can be tempting to push our boundaries with our affections or creations. This is “borrow from the future” energy, and we should be careful not to commit to something for which we don’t yet have the resources. However, we have grounding energy helping us out. The third and final perfection of a long-term transit, Saturn sextile Chiron, occurs today. This transit first occurred in February and returned in June. This transit has been roughly following along the same timeline as the Saturn-Uranus square, helping to soften some of the square’s rough edges. It’s a time for feeling competent, effective, and secure. This transit encourages us to express our unique qualities. We tend to go our own way without stirring up controversy by acting professionally and respectfully. There’s no need for show-boating with this aspect! It helps humble us, and with increased realism, we can pursue our goals with better chances of success. As the last in a set, it’s a good time to consolidate some of these lessons we’ve absorbed over the previous nine months. The Moon’s move into Virgo tonight stirs the desire to get organized and busy.

France, UK vow action after deadliest Channel migrant tragedy

President Emmanuel Macron said France would not allow the Channel to become a 'cemetery'
Calais (France) (AFP) - Britain and France were on Thursday looking at new measures to limit migration across the Channel and break people-smuggling networks after at least 27 migrants trying to reach England drowned off the northern French coast.
The disaster is the deadliest accident since the Channel in 2018 became a hub for migrants from the Africa, the Middle East and Asia who have been increasingly using small boats to reach England from France.
President Emmanuel Macron, after vowing France would not allow the Channel to become a “cemetery”, spoke to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to agree on stepping up efforts to thwart the traffickers blamed for the surge in crossings.
Prime Minister Jean Castex also held a crisis meeting on Thursday with ministers to discuss new measures, his office said.
Seventeen men, seven women and three minors died when the inflatable boat lost air and took on water off the northern port of Calais on Wednesday, according to public prosecutors in Lille. A manslaughter probe has been opened.
The disaster poses a new challenge to cooperation between France and Britain after Brexit. Initial statements from both sides pinning responsibility on the other party to act indicated the tragedy will not be an automatic catalyst for cooperation.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said a total of five suspected traffickers accused of being directly linked to the doomed crossing had been arrested, the fifth man suspected of buying inflatable boats for the crossing.

Darmanin said only two survivors, an Iraqi and Somali, had been found and they were recovering from extreme hypothermia and would eventually be questioned.
Calais mayor Natacha Bouchart said a pregnant woman was also one of the victims.

In telephone talks, Johnson and Macron agreed on the “urgency of stepping up joint efforts to prevent these deadly crossings” and that “it is vital to keep all options on the table” to break the business model of the smuggling gangs, according to Downing Street.
But Johnson told British media London had faced “difficulties persuading some of our partners, particularly the French, to do things in a way that the situation deserves”.
And in a terse readout of the talks, the Elysee Palace said Macron told Johnson that France and the UK have a “shared responsibility” and added he “expected the British to cooperate fully and refrain from exploiting a dramatic situation for political ends”.
British officials said Johnson renewed an offer to send police and border forces to France to carry out joint patrols along the Channel coast – an idea that has been rebuffed by Paris in the past.
In a sign of the tensions, Britain’s biggest-selling tabloid newspapers all carried a front-page picture of a French police vehicle apparently sitting idly by as migrants entered the waters off northern France.
More than 25,700 people have made the cross-Channel journey in small boats this year – three times the total for the whole of 2020, according to data compiled by Britain’s PA news agency.
Darmanin insisted that Paris was doing all it could to break the trafficking networks, saying France had arrested 1,500 people smugglers since the start of the year and accusing them of operating like “mafia organisations”.
He was due to hold new talks with British counterpart Priti Patel later Thursday.
- ‘No other choice’ -
French officials said earlier three helicopters and three boats had searched the area, finding corpses and people unconscious in the water, after a fisherman sounded the alarm.
The boat had set off from the coast at Dunkirk before hitting trouble off Calais to the west, a source close to the investigation said.
One of the French lifeboat workers, Charles Devos, described seeing “a flat, deflated inflatable boat with the little air that remained helping it float” surrounded by bodies of the drowned.
Pierre Roques of the Auberge des Migrants NGO in Calais said the Channel risked becoming as deadly as the Mediterranean, which has seen a much higher toll from migrant crossings.

“People are dying in the Channel, which is becoming a cemetery. And as England is right opposite, people will continue to cross,” he said.
A Sudanese man aged 30, Armed, told AFP in Calais after being rescued following a failed attempt to cross that he was aware of the tragedy but it would not stop him trying again.
“It’s terrible, but I’ll try it again and again. I have no other choice. I know it is dangerous. I know I’m risking my life. But I have no other choice,” he said.

EU ministers back bloc's Big Tech clampdown

The European Uinon has led the charge on cracking down on Big Tech.
Brussels (AFP) - European Union member states on Thursday agreed their common position on two landmark legislations that could set unprecedented oversight on Big Tech.
Ministers from the EU’s 27 member countries agreed the texts at a meeting in Brussels, which will serve as their marching orders in negotiations with the European Parliament that should start early next year.
The Digital Services Act (DSA) and its companion Digital Markets Act (DMA) were proposed by the European Commission last year and are intended to give Facebook, Google, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft never seen limitations on the way they do business.
The versions approved on Thursday stayed quite close to the original proposals, while the drafts making their way through parliament are expected to make the demands on Big Tech much tougher.
France, as the next holder of the EU presidency in January, will spearhead the talks and French President Emmanuel Macron has made a deal on the laws a priority for his country’s six-month term.
The two texts are “perhaps the most important in the history of digital regulation”, said French Digital Affairs Minister Cedric O as he arrived for talks in Brussels, referring to a “historic day”.
The DSA is an attempt to harmonise rules against illicit content online and would impose stiff sanctions for any failure to takedown illegal speech or block sales of counterfeit products.
The DMA meanwhile is a complete rewrite of current competition rules for Big Tech companies and would hand them a list of specific Do’s and Don’ts on how they do business.
CCIA, the lobby for Big Tech, said the DSA would provide welcome clarity on the rulebook for online content in Europe.
On the DMA, however, “it remains to be seen whether the Council’s hard work ultimately will translate into a more competitive Europe,” it said.
